In March 1922, on a quiet farm near Gröbern, Bavaria, six lives were tragically lost. Andreas Gruber, his wife Cäzilia, their daughter Viktoria, Viktoria’s children—young Cäzilia and Josef—and their maid, Maria Baumgartner, who had just started work that day, fell victim to a horrifying crime.

Before the murders, Andreas noticed strange signs: footprints from the woods that didn’t return, noises in the attic, and unexplained movements of objects. Despite these warnings, life went on—until it was abruptly cut short. Days later, concerned neighbors discovered the gruesome scene. The family and maid were found lifeless, hidden beneath hay in the barn and inside the house. Strangely, the killer stayed on the farm for days afterward—feeding the animals, eating their food, and keeping fires lit. 

Investigators searched for answers. Was it someone close to the family, a random stranger, or a shadow from their past? Theories ranged from personal grudges to the work of a drifter, but the case remains unsolved—a haunting mystery that defies explanation.
